She can sketch a monster and then use it's abilities against itself. Special Ability- Sketch/Control- She can sketch an enemy, and have it attack. Also, in the Menu screen, you can make her have three other abilites apart form Mimic (e.g Tools, Blitz, Magic, Morph), so it's very versatile. --------------------------------------------------------------------- 2)Walkthrough for the World of Balance --------------------------------------------------------------------- You'll watch a nice but time-consuming scene before getting into any real gameplay. Once you are finished the intro, you'll be in control of Vicks, Wedge, and an unknown woman (Terra). Go up into the town, fighting the battles along the way. Tip: In battles, don't be afraid to use your Magitek, especially with Terra. But don't use it every single time, you'll run out of MP eventually. You'll reach the caves soon, inside is a save point. Save, and heal your party (using either Cure or Heal Force in battle) and head forward to fight your first boss, Whelk. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Whelk --------------------------------------------------------------------- Considerably easy if you keep Terra alive. Hit it with the Magitek spell "Tek Missile" to do nice damage. For the other two characters, use anything BUT Bolt Beam. And don't target the shell. When it retreats, heal with Vicks or Wedge, and don't attack it. Once its head pops back out, repeat the process. --------------------------------------------------------------------- There'll be a scene involving Terra, and an esper. I don't want to reveal the storyline too much so I'll just skip this part. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Narshe --------------------------------------------------------------------- As Terra, you'll wake up in Arvis' house. Speak with the man there, and before escaping via the back door, check the clock for an Elixir. *Tip*Most clocks in the game hold an Elixir. But it can only be taken once. Once you escape into the mines, you'll find a few chests. *Tip*Leave these chests until the World of Ruin to get better items. Sooner or later you'll find some soldiers on your trail. Then you'll fall down a hole into the ground. Back at Arvis' House, you'll meet your next party member, Locke. He'll be informed about the situation and will go look for Terra. Once he finds her, the soldiers will come along. But to your rescue comes a bunch of Moogles!!! *Tip*Unequip Mog's weapons and armor, as they will come in handy soon. Now you'll have three or four groups to combat the enemies. Save the party with Locke in it for the commander. Walk up to the other enemies with the Mog parties and kill them, after the first battle or so you should learn a Dance. Use that in your forthcoming battles to wipe out the enemy easy. The commander is easy too, so I won't list him as a boss. Now Locke will escape from the mines with Terra, through a secret passage. Remember this spot, it'll come handy in the future. Now you won't be able to enter Narshe for a while yet, but you can enter the classroom. You'll get cured, you'll get some items, and learn a bit more about the game. When you're done, leave and head south from Narshe. In the middle of the desert should be Figaro Castle. Enter. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Figaro Castle --------------------------------------------------------------------- Keep going straight up from the entrance to meet Edgar, who will join your party soon. Now you can roam around. Check out the side rooms in where you met Edgar, there'll be some shops, buy the Tools for Edgar. Then go to the tower on the left, speak with the Matron, and head back to chat with Edgar. You'll be informed that "Kefka" (the game's resident nemesis) is arriving, head back to where you entered to speak with him. Once done speaking with Kefka, speak with Locke. An arrangement will be made, and you'll be in control of Terra. Follow Locke to the room she will be staying in. Kefka will now set fire to the castle, head back once again to the entrance, speak with everyone (including Kefka) and you'll escape via Chocobos. In the desert, you'll fight Magitek Armors, but they're easy. *Tip*Use Terra's magic to see a little sequence between your party members. After that, ride to the cave in the southeast. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Figaro Cave --------------------------------------------------------------------- First of all, you'll notice the turtle. It's a restoration point, so use it to regain lost HP/MP. Then head right, and ignore all chests until the World Of Ruin (for better items). Find your way out and once you are out, save and head on to South Figaro. --------------------------------------------------------------------- South Figaro --------------------------------------------------------------------- Walk around here, I'll once again point out that leave any chests until the World of Ruin. Places which are of interest: Cafe-You'll meet Shadow, who'll join your party LATER. Relic Shop-Buy a pair of Sprint Shoes, a must. Item, Weapon, Armor Shop-Stock up on whatever you need, including lots of Tonics. House, North of the Inn-In this house, go up to the second floor, and head into one of the rooms there. There'll be a bookcase, go behind it and enter a secret passage! In the rooms to the right will be some money. Now go to the bookcases below the stairs, there'll be a secret passage leading you to some relics. Now exit. There are also numerous items hidden around the town, however, I'll detail them to you in the World of Ruin. Once you're done, rent a Chocobo from the stable. Once out of Sth Figaro, head north to reach Sabin's Cabin. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Sabin's Cabin/Mt. Kolts --------------------------------------------------------------------- In Sabin's Cabin, you'll just learn about Sabin, Edgar's brother. Check the bucket in the house for a Tonic, and you can rest in the bed. Now get out and go to the east. There'll be a cave, dismount off your Chocobo. Save, and do some battles with the local enemies to gain 1 or 2 levels. Now save and head into Mt Kolts. Mt Kolts The enemies here are kinda tough. But the path's straightforward. But before going anywhere, here's how to pick up an almost "secret" item. From the entrance, hug the right wall, and walk up with it, and you'll reach a room with the very useful Atlas Armlet. Once you've got that, head for the exit of this cavern, and make your way through. Soon you'll see a shadow, that's what you'll be chasing. Once you've gone far enough, you'll reach a save point. Follow the path outside, and soon you'll face the shadow himself, Vargas. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Vargas --------------------------------------------------------------------- Smack the bears, and then use Edgar and Locke to attack, with Terra healing and attacking whenever needed. Soon, Sabin will hop in and you'll be required to beat Vargas with just Sabin. Select Blitz, and press <-, ->, <- and then A (Left, Right, Left, A) to use the Pummel Blitz, which will kill Vargas. You must input the Blitz quickly. After beating him, Sabin will join your party. Go into the menu (using Y) and go into Skills, select Sabin, and then Blitz. You'll see a list of all the Blitzes Sabin can do, they'll be very helpful. To use a Blitz: In battle, select Blitz with A ONCE. Input the Blitz command. Press A. Now, head north, save, and into the little cave which is the Returner's Hideout. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Returner's Hideout/Lete River --------------------------------------------------------------------- Explore the whole place, especially the top room on the left. Behind the boxes is a secret passageway leading to a White Cape. Now once done exploring, exit. Banon will come out, asking you to join. To get a Gauntlet Relic (Wield a weapon with both hands): Simply say Yes to Banon the first time. To get a Genji Glove Relic (Wield a weapon per hand) : Say No to Banon three times, then say Yes. This way you'll also skip a boring meeting. Now your team will split, Banon will join you while Locke goes back to "secure" South Figaro. Lete River First of all, Banon has a handy ability, Heal, which will cure all members in your party. *Tip*Place him in the back row, as if he dies, it's GAME OVER. Go down and you'll reach a waterfall. You'll jump, and travel along the river on a raft. There'll be some decision points of where to go, if I can remember correctly for the first one, pick Left and you'll reach a save. If not, it's North. For the second one, it's either North or Right. Picking the wrong direction results in you going in a loop, so it's okay. After the second save, you'll meet Ultros. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Ultros --------------------------------------------------------------------- Easy, use Terra's Fire, Sabin's Aurabolt Blitz and Edgar's Auto Crossbow. As usual, use Banon to heal. After the battle, for some stupid reason, Sabin will go after Ultros, and end up getting washed away. Now comes a good part, you'll split up into three scenarios: one involving Sabin, one involving Locke, and one involving Terra and Edgar. Along the way you'll meet new party members. Their common goal is to reach Narshe. Save as Mog, then go up to a character to start their scenario. For gameplay purpose, do them in this order: Terra, Locke then Sabin. But it doesn't really matter, just that if you do it in this order you get to keep a new party member for longer... --------------------------------------------------------------------- Terra's Scenario --------------------------------------------------------------------- Very easy. When back in Narshe, use the secret entrance that Locke used earlier in the game, and make your way back through the mines to Arvis' House. On the way you'll come to a room with a sparkling thing flying around, follow it's steps EXACTLY to avoid being caught. Leave all treasures until the World of Ruin, trust me there. When you make it back to Arvis, it's finished. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Locke' Scenario --------------------------------------------------------------------- The key to surviving this scenario (or keys, for that matter) are to one: avoid all Magitek soldiers, and two: listen to what the people have to say. This will make your task easier. First, equip your things and head over to the Item Shop. Go up to the merchant next to the counter, fight him to scam his clothes. You'll also get a helmet, equip that. Go to the old man's house, south of the Item store and go downstairs. Now that you are dressed as a merchant that pesky little kid will let you in. Yay. Once your'e out of that passage, fight the green soldier on the perimeter, and steal his clothes off him. This will enable you to speak to soldiers and go around without being "noticed". Now find the Cafe (access should be blocked by three guards, speak to the bottom one), go downstairs and once again fight the merchant, steal his clothes etc. You'll get a Cider for your efforts. Now go back to the old man's place, and give the Cider to him. He'll give you the password for the secret passage (Courage). Go down to the little kid and give Courage as your password to get through. Go into the house, upstairs, into the first room and behind the bookcase (remember this spot?). Now if you got the treasure as described in your first visit here, this will not apply to you, apart form the first part. Move down the stairs, at the intersection you'll be asked to change clothes, it doesn't matter what you do here. Now go left, and head down into the wall for a secret passage. Pick up the treasures, and head back up. Move into the first room on the right, a soldier and your next party member, Celes, will be in there. Save her, check the soldier for the Key, then move on. the next room contains a save point. The room after that is annoying, pick up all the stuff here and then wind up the clock to get a secret passage. Enter it. This part is extremely annoying, but is easy to get through. You'll encounter heaps of enemies, and there's lots of secret passages. Head to the right, go down, right, up, go right, down, and left to reach some chests. Now make your way make to the entrance. There'll be a secret passage in a wall near there, go down, pick up the chests, then go back up halfway and head left to go into a super secret passage. There'll be a chest hidden behind the north most one, so look out for that. Now take it to the right to escape. Leave town, and head to the cave of Figaro. At the exit will be the boss, TunnelArmor. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Tunnel Armor --------------------------------------------------------------------- Use Celes' special ability, Runic, to absorb the magic attacks. Just use Locke to attack, and steal, and it will be over quickly. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Sabin's scenario --------------------------------------------------------------------- The longest, and wackiest scenario. Head to the nearby hut and speak to the Chocobo rider, he's an Item Shop. Next, speak to Shadow and YES! He'll join you. Now head southeast (more like east, then south), until you reach a bridge, cross it to head into the Imperial Base. You'll hear some things, and then control will switch over to Cyan, in nearby Doma Castle. With Cyan, kill the leader. Use his Swordtech 1 or 4 to get him easily. Back to Sabin now, check the tents for treasure chests. As you progress, you'll fight soldiers and Kefka, occasionally. Then you'll hear that Kefka's poisoned Doma. Back to Cyan, he'll find out the King is dead. Go into the chamber on the right, that's his family. That WAS his family. He'll leave Doma and meet up with Sabin. Fight the enemies, jump into the Magitek Armors and break out. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Phantom Train --------------------------------------------------------------------- Head south, into the forest. Follow the path (that big lake is a HP/MP restorer), and reach the Phantom Train. All aboard now! After boarding, go to the right carriage. Talk to the Ghost, he'll join your party. There's also a save and info guy. *Tip* His Possess command kills him and one enemy. Just plough through the rest of the carriages now, going left, and don't talk to any ghosts. You'll soon reach a carriage where when you enter, a ghost will block the door. Kill it, get out, onto the roof and jump to the left. Enter this car, and pull the switch to detach the carriages. Go out, and back in again, pull it to let you through. The next carriage is a HP/MP restorer, sit at the middle table. You can only get out by going outside. In the first room of the next carriage will be Siegfried, stuff him, he's an idiot. Head into the next carriage, and into the 2nd room to grab four valuable chests. Your ghost will leave you next carriage, and the one after that is a save. Now, you'll have reached the engine. Go in, pull the first and third switches, then get out. Save, then go to the ladder on the engine. Climb up, and you'll face Phantom Train. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Phantom Train --------------------------------------------------------------------- Easy, chuck a Phoenix Down at it for an instant kill. Otherwise, pound it with all you've got. Use Sabin's suplex for an effective attack. Once off the train, you'll see a short sequence involving Cyan and his family. After this is done, head out, save, and go east to reach the Baren Falls. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Baren Falls --------------------------------------------------------------------- Shadow will now leave your party at this point, if you took the scenarios in order. Jump of the edge of the cliff, you'll fight some enemies. The Rizopas is so easy, I won't list it as a boss. --------------------------------------------------------------------- The Veldt --------------------------------------------------------------------- You'll wake up and find Gau, your next party member. Speak to him, and he'll run away. Now head to the east, to the town of Mobliz. Buy some/one Dried Meat from the Item store. Now head out onto the Veldt, and do battle until you fight Gau. Use the Dried Meat on him, he'll join your party. *Tip* You may want to Leap some enemies here, it will do you good, as you can't get back here for a while yet. Make sure you leap the Templar, as he has Fire 2, which will prove useful. Once you've finished, head to the lower left corner of the Veldt to reach Crescent Mountain. Enter. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Crescent Mountain/Serpent's Trench --------------------------------------------------------------------- If you explore ALL of this cave, you'll come across some amusing scenes including Sabin and Gau (losing some GP, finding a Tonic, etc...). The last scene will be of Gau finding a diving helmet, and then you'll jump into the Serpent's Trench. Serpent's Trench Now you'll be swimming along, and when the arrows pop up, press Left or Right to go in that direction. To get out as fast as you can, take two Lefts. To grab all the treasure, take two Rights. You'll encounter enemies; use Gau's Templar Rage, you could get Fire 2. You'll end up in Nikeah, speak to the dude on the boat and it's back to Narshe! --------------------------------------------------------------------- Narshe --------------------------------------------------------------------- You'll appear at a very important meeting, where some of the guys won't get along...you'll appear outside, on the hills, ready to battle Kefka. You have to protect Banon at ALL costs, and split all your members into three groups to fight him and his soldiers. Kinda like the Locke/Mog mission. Suggested Groups: Edgar-Locke Sabin-Gau Terra joins the weakest group, probably Sabin's group. Cyan-Celes OR Sabin-Edgar-Celes-Terra Gau-Cyan Locke This way, use your four person party to barge through to Kefka. You can fight ALL the soldiers if you are in need of EXP, otherwise, head straight to Kefka. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Kefka --------------------------------------------------------------------- If you took the first choice of groups, use Sabin's party, and for the second choice, use the four person party. Pummel is a very effective Blitz, and most Rages are ok. Cure with Terra, and if you can, use Celes' Runic and Edgar's Auto Crossbow. He'll run away shortly. After this, Terra will confront, or be confronted by an Esper. She'll morph, turning into one herself, and fly away. You'll now have to find her. Back in Narshe, stock up on weapons, armors, etc. Check out the house in the lower right hand corner, on the cliff edge for some nifty weapons. Now go to Figaro Castle. *Note* Keep three party members if you want Shadow to join you, but for a price. --------------------------------------------------------------------- In Search of Terra --------------------------------------------------------------------- Upon reaching Figaro, and if you have Sabin/Edgar, you can buy items/ new tools for cheap. Now go back to the room after the entrance, head down the left stairs. Ask the guy to take you to Kohlingen. You'll re-emerge in a desert, and Kohlingen is to the northwest. *Note* Further northwest is a small hut, you may want to check that out as a pot in there contains a Hero Ring. In Kohlingen, enter the Cafe. Shadow will be there, he'll join you for 3000GP and only if you have three people in your party. But this is only for a short while. If you have Locke in your party, head to the house in the top right hand corner. You'll learn a bit more about him and his life. *Tip* Enter the house from the back to recieve a treasure. Now leave, and head south to Jidoor. There isn't much to do here, except grab a Chocobo so the ride to the next town is quicker. From Jidoor, head to the north, and into the little gorge. That's where Zozo is. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Zozo --------------------------------------------------------------------- *Tip* Most of the people here are liars. Well, this is a "haunted" town. You will have to fight some enemies here, and they may be a little hard. First, head off to the Inn. Find the clock and input the time as 6:10:50 (don't listen to the people there). A stairway will open, it contains a Chainsaw Tool. Head to the Relic Shop, which is at the bottom left hand corner, and climb the tower. Head all the way up, and into the door to grab a Thief Glove. Then head back down a few levels, below the jumping guy. Walk to the left, and you'll jump from building to building. Climb up this one, jump to the next, etc. Before you go anywhere else though, you'll have to face Dadaluma. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Dadaluma --------------------------------------------------------------------- Depending on who you have in your party, this can be easy or VERY hard. Use Cyan's Dispatch or Retort, use Sabin's Pummel or Aura Bolt, and use Edgar's newly acquired Chainsaw. Heal up with Celes if you can, if not, launch a full on attack, not bothering to heal. After that, head up, and into the room there. You'll find Terra, and also find four Espers! YES! Also, there's some chests on the side. Once done, go down, speak to the rest of your party members. Then, you'll have to make a party which includes Celes and Locke. DO NOT put Shadow in your party at all, he's leaving. With that party, head to Jidoor. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Jidoor/Opera House --------------------------------------------------------------------- Go to the house located in the north of the town. In there, you'll find the Opera director. He'll drop a letter as he leaves, and it will say something about Setzer and his airship. Now head south to the Opera House. Opera House Here, Celes will be chosen to replace the lead actor of the opera. She'll be in a room, there'll be a book there. Study it, then get ready to perform. *Note* Do the following as FAST as possible. When the first option box comes out, choose the first option. When the second option box comes out, pick the second option. For the third, pick the first. They should be "Oh, my hero..." followed by "I'm the darkness..." and then "Must I...". Once that is done, talk with the guy who is there, everytime you stop. Then when he goes, grab the flowers and go up to the balcony. You've only got four chances to get this right. In the middle of that, Locke will get up to wander around. Read the letter in the dressing room, then head back to the director. Now you'll have 5 minutes to save Celes. First, equip the Sprint Shoes, then head to the room in the northeast. Pull the far right switch. Return to the balcony and head to the left room. Make your way through the girders, and then fight none other than...Ultros. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Ultros --------------------------------------------------------------------- Use Ramuh's attacks, Edgar's Chainsaw and Sabin's Aura Bolt for the quickest kill. Other wise just pound it with whatever you have. Setzer will drop in to save Maria/Celes. Then, you'll meet up with him and he'll take you to your next destination, Vector. Or close enough. --------------------------------------------------------------------- The Towns near Vector --------------------------------------------------------------------- You'll land at Albrook. Tzen is located on the northwest corner of this island, while Maranda is at the southwest. Going to these is not neccessary, but it will net you some levels and good weapons. Once done, head to Vector, right in the middle. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Vector/Magitek Factory --------------------------------------------------------------------- *Note/s* Don't use the inn, don't fight the Guardian at the Imperial Castle. Both of these will leave you mad. Go to the house which looks like an outdoor toilet, and inside will be a woman asking if you are allied with the Empire. Say no, fight the guards, and then the woman will become a free inn. Better than the Inn here, they steal your money... Don't talk to any guards on your way right past the Inn. You'll see a guy hiding, he'll cause a distraction. Go to where he was, climb up, and you'll head inside the Magitek Factory. Magitek Factory Go in, and follow the path until you reach that hook. Jump on to it by using A, and then get the chest. Jump back, and go down the second pipe by the stairs. Climb back up and go through the first one. Jump on the conveyor belt to grab some treasures, and then head downwards. In this area there are lots of chests, and most are well hidden, so explore carefully. Also, on the right wall of either this room or the one above, there are pipes leading to more treasure. When done, head back to that first conveyor belt and drop to the right of that one, to find Kefka. If you can't find him, take a ride on the conveyor belts to find him. You'll see him *play* around with some espers, follow the espers down. Talk to the esper on the left to fight Shiva and Ifrit. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Shiva/Ifrit --------------------------------------------------------------------- Use any Ice spells you may have on Ifrit, and Fire spells on Shiva. Sabin's Pummel is effective here, as with Edgar's Chainsaw and Cyan's Dispatch/Retort. They have roughly 3000 HP each, so use one of your characters to heal up, and others to attack. After defeating them, you will recieve them as Espers! Sweet! The left door contains a save, but the right door is the one which will take you out of here. Walk up the stairs, and keep on going until you reach the rooms with the Espers floating around in tanks. In the south wall, further across to the left, is a passage which contains the Break Blade. Enter the next room to fight Number 024. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Number 024 --------------------------------------------------------------------- This boss has about 5000 HP, use Edgar's Chainsaw, Sabin's Aurabolt and Cyan's Retort/Dispatch. Keep healed, and it will be over pretty soon. On the north wall is a switch, press it to recieve some Espers. Kefka will appear, mumbling on about something, and Celes will come to save the day. Cid will be nearby, talk to him and follow him to a save point. Heal up, as you're going on the train ride of your life. On the train ride, you'll face MagRoaders or something like that, and at the end will be another boss, Number 128. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Number 128 --------------------------------------------------------------------- Aim all attacks for the body. With most bosses with multiple targets, hit the body as it will fall if it dies first. Once again, have Edgar use Chainsaw or Drill, Sabin use Aurabolt, and Cyan use Dispatch/Retort. Heal up whenever you need to. You'll end up back in Vector, follow the tracks until Setzer comes along to pick you up. Then, as you are being flown away, 2 cranes will attack you. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Cranes --------------------------------------------------------------------- Watch out, only the right crane can be hurt by Lightning. Otherwise, stick to Aurabolt, Drill, Dispatch/Retort and with Setzer, try out his Slot move for some interesting effects. Now you'll fly back to Zozo. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Zozo --------------------------------------------------------------------- You'll meet Terra, and you'll go through a sequence in the Esper world, where you control her father. To get past this, just talk to everyone, no need to explore. You'll see a pretty cruel scene, and that will be the end. Now, you're in control of the Airship!!! The next events are optional, but damn worth it. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Narshe --------------------------------------------------------------------- Fly to Narshe, and enter the place with all those treasure chests. You'll find the Wolf thief, follow him through Narshe to end up where Terra flew away. The Wolf is holding a Moogle captive...talk to the wolf to get a Gold Hairpin (Cuts MP use by 1/2), or talk to Mog to get him to join your party. I STRONGLY suggest getting Mog. If you did get Mog, you'll want to learn his dances now. This is the way to do it: Land at the Returner's Hideout, and enter. Go through it like you are doing Sabin's scenario again, and when you end up at Nikeah, let the man take you to South Figaro. Head through Mt. Kolts again to pick up the Airship. Easy! You also gain lots of levels this way, so that's sweet. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Mobliz --------------------------------------------------------------------- Head to that town in the Veldt. In the town there should be an injured soldier. Talk to him, then send his message at the post office. It will cost 500 GP, but it's all worth it. Sleep in the bed at the Relic Shop, then talk to the owner and head back to the soldier again. A letter will have arrived for him, it's on the desk, read it then talk to the soldier to send another one. Repeat this process and he'll give you the Tintinabar relic. Now fly to the continent Vecotr was one, and go to the west of Vector to reach the Imperial Base. *Note* Put Terra in your party. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Imperial Base/Cave to the Sealed Gate --------------------------------------------------------------------- Make your way to the right of the base, as there is nothing to get yet. Save, and enter the cave. Cave to the Sealed Gate This cave is full of rooms with moving bridges, so take care when you step around. Keep on moving, and you'll soon reach a point where there is a switch in the middle of the room, pull it and backtrack for a chest (the broken bridge). Head back to the switch and continue on, and you'll reach a place with two switches in the wall. Pull the left one first, then enter the door and save. Pulling the right switch will cause a Ninja to attack. Flick the switch on the bridge below, then go down the stairs. This place contains the treasure the Ninja was talking about. Keep walking around and pressing A to discover some items they are located : above the hole to the right, to the left of the stairs, to the left of the path leading to the chest, and above the chests. Go through the hole once you are done. In the next area you will see two switches in the ground, hit them, then go down and left, hit another switch to open a secret room. Then head to the right, and hit the switches on the bridges. Head back to the chest which just revealed itself, flick the switch and collect the treasure to the right. Soon you'll reach the Sealed Gate. And guess who's here...Kefka. Fight him, it's not really a boss battle, and then leave the cave. Head back to your airship, and it will crash, leaving you south of Maranda. Save and head to Vector. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Vector --------------------------------------------------------------------- Go to the Imperial Castle, and follow the dude who meets you on the stairs. Speak with Gestahl, and he'll ask you to talk to all of the 24 soldiers. This is not pointless, you get some sweet rewards. So equip the Sprint Shoes, and follow my instructions: One, don't bother picking up the treasure, two, don't go into the prison cell. Talk to the two soldiers outside Gestahl's room, then move to the right, head up the stairs and into the (second) door. Talk to the soldiers, then go to the door in the bottom left. Talk to the soldier there and head out of that room. Go up the stairs, talk to the soldier, then go up and speak to the Magitek Armors, and go into the middle door. You'll fight someone, but it's easy. Go back out, but back to the left. Go down the stairs to the first door, there'll be a whole heap of soldiers to speak to. Through the upper left door of that room is another fight which you have to go through. Leave the palace, and speak with the soldiers on the stairs, the Magitek Armor last as it is a fight. That should be it, wait outside the throne room now. Soon Geshtal will come out and offer you to join the banquet. Once inside, you'll be asked a series of questions, and if you answer them correctly you'll recieve a bonus. Q. A toast to... A. Our Hometowns. Q. Kefka? A. Leave him in jail. Q. Doma? A. Inexcusable. Q. Celes? A. One of us. Q. Any questions? A. (Ask all three, starting with the first, then the second, then the third.Make sure they are only asked once each) Q. Espers? A. Gone too far. Q. Which question asked first? A. (This refers to the Any Questions? question. Answer with the one you said first) Q. Take a break? A. Yes (Walk around a little, then sit down) Q. What would you like me to say? A. War is over. Q. Do me a favour? A. Yes. Now you'll leave, and if you talked to 24 soldiers, and answered all the questions, you'll get these following bonuses: Imperial Troops removed from South Figaro Imperial Troops removed from Doma Locked door in Imperial Base opened Tintinabar Charm Bangle Now head northwest, to Tzen. There'll be a guy behind the Relic Shop who will sell you the Sraphim Esper for 3000GP. Or you can wait until the World of Ruin, where it can be acquired for 10 GP. I suggest to get it now. Now leave , and head for the Imperial Base. Head into the house, down the stairs, and open up the boxes there. There's something in the stove thingy, and a chest in the lower righthand corner. Leave and head to Albrook, go to the docks, talk to Leo, then rest at the Inn. You'll sail to Thamasa...nearby the gathering place of the Espers. *Note* On the boat ride, there are some funny scenes, and plus, you get Shadow!!! --------------------------------------------------------------------- Thamasa --------------------------------------------------------------------- *Note* This area is a GREAT place to level up. Once off the ship, head north towards Thamasa. Talk to Strago, and then sleep at the Inn. You'll be woken up, a house containing Strago's grand-daughter, Relm, is on fire. Go to the house on fire, Strago will join you, and venture in to save Relm's life. *Note* Don't touch the flames, unless you wanna fight some enemies. And make sure someone has Shiva or Ice magic. Venture through this inferno. Whenever you come to a two door path, the right door will contain a chest, the left will lead you up. Once you've gone through the two "left" doors, you'll face Flame Eater. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Flame Eater --------------------------------------------------------------------- Use your most powerful Ice magic, along with Shiva. Strago comes in handy with his Aqua Rake lore, all of those work fine. Otherwise attack and keep healed. After he's dead, you'll find Relm, and Shadow will come to save you. Next morning, stock up on items, then head to the Crescent Cave/Gathering Place of the Espers, which is to your west. You may want to level up a little first, just to make things a bit easier. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Crescent Cave/Gathering Place of The Espers --------------------------------------------------------------------- The correct exit in the first room is to the right, and then head left. Soon, you'll reach the three Goddess Statues. Walk up to them, and as you are going away, you'll be attacked-by that idiot Ultros. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Ultros --------------------------------------------------------------------- Fight him off for a while, using just attacks. Relm will join after a while, sketch Ultros to win. Keep moving on through the cave, you'll reach a room with a save point and three suspicious looking patches on the floor. First, step on the top left on, to recieve a chest, do the same with the right hole and finally the bottom left hole. You'll see a scene, and end up back in Thamasa in control of Leo. Head to Kefka, and battle him. Use Leo's Shock technique, for an easy win. But, still... after a tragic event, you'll be in the Airship again. The Sealed Gate will rise into the air, becoming the Floating Continent, your next destination. Pick a party of three, unless you want to go somewhere else to level up a bit. Good places to level up are the Triangle Island, the area around Doma Castle and the Veldt. *Note* Make sure you learn Vanish, and Doom. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Floating Continent --------------------------------------------------------------------- On the way there, you'll be attacked by a lot of enemies. Very annoying. What's more annyoing is that once you've beaten them, along comes Ultros. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Ultros --------------------------------------------------------------------- Casting Vanish, then Doom works on Ultros, and saves you a fight with his buddy Chupon. Otherwise, use Fire and Ice on Ultros until Chupon shows up. Then use Vanish, and Doom, or Edgar's Chainsaw, Sabin's Pummel, or Mog's Wind Dance. These are the most effective, keep healed. You'll fall, and face Air Force. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Air Force --------------------------------------------------------------------- Aim for the body. Use lightning attacks, and Strago's Aqua Rake. Otherwise, stick to the Chainsaw, Pummel, Espers, etc. It's easy. You'll land on/near a save spot. Shadow will be there. He'll join. Head east until you reach a wall, press against it to go through. The blue orbs you find are equivalent to treasure chests. After you find the first one, head east and push on the wall until you find another orb, it's got a monster inside though. Head back west, and spot the mark on the wall. Push it, and enter the teleporter that appears. Now go down, find the mark on your right, and push it. Head southeast and enter the teleporter. Then enter the southwest teleporter, and step on the switches, to your north and south. Head southwest until you reach a staircase, the head south east. Keep going until you reach a fork, head right, hit the switch, and grab the orb, then head back and take the passage which opened up. Go into the teleporter, then go down to another one. Save, then go back north. You'll get a choice of returning to the airship, I suggest not to. Head northwest, and you'll fight Atma Weapon. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Atma Weapon --------------------------------------------------------------------- Whap him with your most powerful spells. Level 2 element spells, Espers, and attacks. Also try using Rasp, if his MP is gone he's gone too. Head north, watch the scene and watch Shadow stuff everything up. Now a timer begins, equip the Sprint Shoes and Charm Bangle and run east. Don't stop to pick up the orbs unless you really have to. At the Save Point, you'll fight Nerapa. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Nerapa --------------------------------------------------------------------- Use your strongest attacks, as he has a barrier on him. Stuff magic, unless he casts a barrier on one of your characters. Direct all offensive magic at that person, and then it'll hit Nerapa. Run east, then choose to wait paitenly. When there's five seconds left, Shadow will join you. You'll jump, and that's the end of the World of Balance. *********************END OF WORLD OF BALANCE************************* --------------------------------------------------------------------- 3)World of Ruin --------------------------------------------------------------------- Solitary Island --------------------------------------------------------------------- You'll wake up as Celes and find out that only you and Cid are on the island. And Cid's dying. So head out of the house, go north to the world map (to save), then re-enter the house. Speak to Cid, then head to the south of the house, where the small beach is. See all the fish? You've gotta capture the ones which move fast so that Cid can survive. Catch them with A, then go back to Cid and talk to him. It really doesn't matter whether he dies or not. If you bring him back to health, he'llshow you a passage containing a raft, and you'll use it to sail away.If Cid dies though, Celes will do some stuff, and then when you head back into the house, there'll be a letter explaining about the raft and secret passage. Either way, get it and you're off! --------------------------------------------------------------------- Albrook/Tzen --------------------------------------------------------------------- Once off the raft, into Albrook, equip yourself, then talk around. A person will mention someone who went to Tzen, looking for his pals. So head north to Tzen. As you enter, Kefka's Light Judgement thingy will engulf the town. Head to the north, and there's Sabin, holding up...a house? I knew he was strong...but... Enter the house, you've got six minutes to save a little kid. Equip a Relic which protects from Poison and Petrify, and the Sprint Shoes. Get through the house, collecting the treasures too, and the little kid should be downstairs above the fireplace. Once out of there, Sabin will join you, and if you were too tight to get Sraphim in the World Of Balance, get it now for 10 GP. Now, travel to Mobliz. There's two ways to get there, by foot, and by Chocobo. Travel northeast to reach Mobliz, and the Chocobo stable is in a small forest northwest of Tzen. There are many Chocobo stables like hidden like this; I'll detail them in another section. Make your way to Mobliz. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Mobliz --------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow the kid into the house, then go downstairs. You'll find Terra. You'll see a little scene, and then Phunbaba, a monster that was unleashed when the Floating Continent blew up (there's one called Doom Gaze and there's about eight dragons) will come along. Terra will try beating it, but she'll lose. Luckily Celes and Sabin are there. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Phunbaba --------------------------------------------------------------------- Vanish/Doom works, and if you don't have that, don't resort to using Lightning attacks. They heal. Use Sabin's Suplex, and Celes to heal, attack, the occasional Runic, you get the deal. Once he gets damaged enough he'll fly away. Terra's gonna stay with the kids, but you do get the Fenrir Esper from a little kid. Pocket that, and leave the town. In the forest is a Chocobo stable, hitch one and go northwest (all the way on the other side of the island, which IMHO looks like a curved Japan!) to reach your next destination, Nikeah. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Nikeah/South Figaro --------------------------------------------------------------------- The Cafe is your next destination, inside will be some thieves, lead by a man named Gerad. He's in the place across from the Armor Shop though. First, follow the thieves onto the ship, then head back and speak with Gerad. Trail him and you'll end up on the ship to South Figaro. South Figaro Search the barrels and boxes in this town for some handy items. Head into the Cafe again, then into the Inn and to Gerad's room. Speak with Gerad, then they'll head off the Figaro Cave. Stock up on items and follow them. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Figaro Cave --------------------------------------------------------------------- Head through, and don't listen to that Siegfried idiot. Head to the turtle/recovery spring, then head through this easy section. You'll end up back in... Figaro Castle Go up the stairs here, and then take the other stairs down. Head south until you reach a room with doors to the north and west, and treasure. Take the treasure, then go west and take the other treasure. Head back to the multi-door room, and go north. You'll meet up with Gerad. And if you've got enough brain power, you should have realized that he's really Edgar by now. If not, go do some mental work. Like maths, science, or watching the stock market channel. He'll join your party, and just in time to take on a boss. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Four Tentacles --------------------------------------------------------------------- Ok, the bottom two tentacles are elementally based. The bottom left one is weak against fire, the right one weak against ice/water. So they're strong against the opposites. Edgar's Drill works very, very nice here, along with Sabin's Aurabolt. Once the bottom right one is dead though, use Sabin's Fire Dance to hit all tentacles. Make Celes heal often and it's a long, but easy win. Go back a few rooms and search the statue there for a Soul Saber. It's a good, rare weapon. Now make your way back to the cave, but on the way that old man will make the castle surface, and you can stock up on items before telling him to head to Kohlingen. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Kohlingen --------------------------------------------------------------------- No, it's not Shadow in the Cafe, but it's Setzer! He'll join your party, and tell you about the airship in Daryl's Tomb. Great idea, head west from Kohlingen to reach Daryl's Tomb. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Daryl's Tomb --------------------------------------------------------------------- Head south twice into Basement 2. Go to to southwest door, grab the chest, and head downstairs once more. Grab the chest, then make sure you are exactly one tile underneath it. Go right, even through the wall, until you can't go any further, then head north to get the Exp.Egg! In the same room, go north and flick the switch. Head back to Basement 2, and take the northeast room. Hit the grave, then head south for treasure. Now head into the middle room of Basement 2. Jump on the turtle, and then head south again. You'll reach a flooded room, take the turtle across. *Note* If you wanted to find out the location of the Exp.Egg yourself, in the flooded room, head south once more to find four graves. The letters carved on them are ERAU QSSI DLRO WHET. Then head back to Basement 2, the northwest door, and carve that same sentence on. Back to the turtle part, you should be in a room with a save and some chests. The left chest contains a monster. Once done, head north, examine the statue to fight the boss. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Dullahan --------------------------------------------------------------------- Vanish/Doom, or Fire spells are your best bet. Runic works, along with Suplex, Drill and the Slot attack. Once beating it, you'll obtain the Airship!!! Again. FROM NOW ON, THESE QUESTS ARE OPTIONAL, APART FROM KEFKA'S TOWER. They can be taken in any order. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Quest 1:Finding Cyan --------------------------------------------------------------------- When you first recieve the Airship, you'll see a pigeon flying off. This pigeon is headed to Maranda, so head there yourself. Maranda Head to the house in the northeast corner, where all those pigeons are. Speak to the girl (Lola), and she'll place a letter down. Read it, talk to Lola, then give it to a pigeon outside the house. It will take it to Zozo, follow. Zozo Head to the guy behind the Cafe, in front of the Inn. He'll sell you some Rust-Rid, buy it. Enter the Cafe, and climb to the top. The rusted door will open with that Rust-Rid...and then you'll enter Mt.Zozo. Mt. Zozo Head through the first room, taking a left, down the stairs and grabbing the riches. Among these treasures you'll find a Thunder Shield, which is definetly worth equipping to anyone. There are two exits from the room, the west one leading to lots more riches, and the north one leading to the next room. Save, then step on the switch. Get ready to fight a boss... --------------------------------------------------------------------- Storm Dragon --------------------------------------------------------------------- Vanish/Doom, otherwise use Lightning spells. Pummel and Drill are effective, and use your other characters to heal. Often. After that battle, head south, and then east to find Cyan. You'll have a chat. He'll join, and then head back east, to where you were before. Pick up the key and open the chest in his room. You'll get some books on machinery. Leave, and put Cyan in your party. Head to Maranda. Maranda Go to Lola's House, and Cyan will switch letters. That's one quest! --------------------------------------------------------------------- Quest 2:Gau, and the Cave in the Veldt --------------------------------------------------------------------- Take three members to the Veldt. Fight until you see Gau. If you do, remain still until he recognizes you. He'll join. You may have to talk to the bums in the cave to trigger this first. Now head to that little cave in the Veldt. Cave in the Veldt Head through, go up the stairs. The bums at the fire tell you to reduce the number of people in your party to get Gau. I've already told you that. There's a chest in the northwest corner. Then head into the door to the right. There'll be a wall you can walk through here, it's three steps from the wall furthest to the left. The chest there has a monster, use Cure and Life spells to beat it easily. You'll recieve a nice treasure for your efforts. Now head back, and feel your way down to get to some steps. Pull the switch at the bottom of this room, then head to the real bottom and grab the chest (Striker, remember this). Head back up and to the right. There's a save in the next room, and the bottom left opening leads to Shadow/Relm...and a boss. If you didn't wait for Shadow, Relm will appear here. --------------------------------------------------------------------- SrBehemoth --------------------------------------------------------------------- There'll be two of these idiots, so you can Vanish/Doom them, or use Fire spells, Chainsaw, and any of Cyan's Quadra techs. Once the first one is gone, use a Life or Phoenix Down on the second on, you'll kill it. You'll take Shadow/Relm to Thamasa (the dialogue here may indicate Shadow as a her, don't worry, it's just that it was actually meant for Relm). After resting in the Inn, check on the person you saved. Don't worry, you'll hear from them. Now if you got Shadow: Head to the Colosseum. It's somewhere near Kohlingen. Go in, and bet the Striker that you found in the Veldt. You'll face...Shadow!!! Beat him and he'll join you...pernamently! I'll detail the Colosseum below. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Quest 3: Terra --------------------------------------------------------------------- Head back to Mobliz, and into the place where all the kids are. Some of them will say that Katarin is missing. Leave the house, and go into the house nearby. Duane will be here, and follow the dog behind the bookshelf. Down there will be Terra and Katarin. And oh no, Phunbaba returns. Head back up to face it. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Phunbaba --------------------------------------------------------------------- Vanish/Doom, otherwise stick to the way you did it before, Lightning attacks, Drill, Suplex, and any of Cyan's Quadra attacks. Quite easy if you keep healed. After this, Terra will join. Now head to back to the Solitary Island, where Celes started off. The Esper Palidor will be there on the beach. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Quest 4:Triangle Island --------------------------------------------------------------------- Head to the Triangle Island, which is the north-east island on the map. Walk around and enter battle. You'll face the Hoover, let it engulf all of your party and you'll be taken to a cave. Triangle Island Cave If you want to leave at any time, stand in the light to the north of your entrance. Head left. In this room, there will be green guys running around, touch them and you fall down. Do this once to get the treasure, but avoid them on your second attempt. Head west, there'll be lots of chests to pick up and green gyus to avoid. Head up the stairs, save, the next room is tricky. The ceiling comes crashing down, so RUN to the first chest, and when the ceiling goes back up, RUN to the second chest. Repeat, then RUN to the place where the color of the floor is different. Don't run to the next chest, run to the safe spot near the exit, then when the ceiling goes back up, RUN from there to the chest and back. The next room has chests for stepping stones. Make your way to the switch, then around to the west for a chest. Next, take the path into the next room, where you'll find Gogo. Warp or make your way out. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Quest 5:Duncan, and Narshe --------------------------------------------------------------------- Fly to the northwest of the map to find Narshe. Fly north above it to find a suspicious looking group of trees, shaped in a cross. Land and enter the middle one with Sabin in your party, he'll learn his best Blitz. Now head back to Narshe. Narshe Lone Wolf will run out and talk to you. The doors in Narshe are all locked, you'll need a real good lock picker to do this...Locke? Him later. Head into the secret passage, then head up through the mines until you reach Mog! He'll join, and when he's finished talking, head to where he was, search the wall for a relic. Now head back out, pur Mog in your party, then head up to the snowfield on which the battle with Kefka took place. You'll fight the Ice Dragon. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Ice Dragon --------------------------------------------------------------------- Vanish/Doom, otherwise the most bloody obvious thing is to use Fire spells. Then the usuals, Chainsaw, Suplex, cure whenever needed...it's quite, quite easy. Head north to the Tritoch Esper. And fight again. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Tritoch --------------------------------------------------------------------- Vanish/Doom, or just pound him with fire spells, plus the usual. Jump off the cliff, don't worry, it's not certain death. If you want an easy time, equip Mog with the Moogle Charm. Be careful of where you walk, the floor's full of invisible holes. There's a room with three chests, one containing an extremely hard monster. Head through this rather easy area, jsut watch out for the holes (they are in the spots your'e most likely to walk into), and you'll find a switch. Flick it, cross the bridge, and then flick the other switch. You'll fall, check out the skull for an Esper. Then...Umaro comes. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Umaro --------------------------------------------------------------------- Fire spells, once again, work the best, along with the usual attacks. Cure whenever he does damage to all. Mog will convince him to join you. Warp, or trek out of here. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Quest 6:Jidoor and Doom Gaze --------------------------------------------------------------------- Fly to Jidoor. Don't forget, grab that Esper in the Auction House too. Then head to the mansion at the north of the town, and head up the stairs. You'll be disallowed entry, and a book will appear on a nearby desk. Read it, then flick on the lights next to the stairs. Up here, examine all of the paintings, and for most of them, you'll have to fight an enemy. Once you fight the enemies in the painting of the woman, enter the door. Fight the enemies in the paintings again, and then enter the right door. There's three doors which sorta switch places, the left door is the way to go. *Note* There's a chest behind those doors. Walk on to the room with the floating chests, walk under the chests and they'll fall on you. You'll then have to fight a monster to gain the item. Examine the picutre, fight the enemy and go through the door. Save, enter the right door. You'll find Relm and Owzer, and have to fight a boss, Chadarnook. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Chadarnook --------------------------------------------------------------------- Vanish/X-Zone, otherwise use your most powerful Fire attacks, the esper Ifrit and Drill, Fire Dance, Quadra Slam etc. After the battle, check the bookcase for an Esper. Head back outside into your airship. Fly around for a while, and sooner or later you'll run into a monster in the air. BTW, this doesn't just occur after you beat Chardanook, it can occur any time at all... --------------------------------------------------------------------- Doom Gaze --------------------------------------------------------------------- Vanish/Doom works well, do not use X-Zone otherwise you will not recieve Bahamut! Which is what you get after the battle. Use Fire spells, and if you have it, Pearl spells. It may run away, if it does, fly around again. It'll still be on the same HP as it was when it ran though. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Quest 7:Phoenix Cave and the Return to Kohlingen/Narshe --------------------------------------------------------------------- To find the Phoenix Cave, fly north of Tzen and land in the middle of the star shaped mountain. Pheonix Cave You'll need to make 2 groups of four here, balance them out. Once you've chosen your groups (Group A and Group B, it doesn't matter which is A or B), these are the instructions to follow: Group A: Go forward and step on the switch. Group B: Enter the path. With B, head left, fall down, south, upstairs, and then grab the chest. Now head east and find the switch. Group A: Enter the path which just opened. Head north and hit the switch, change back to B. Group B: Head north past the spikes, and then east to a switch. Group A: Head into the passage, then go east and hit the switch. Now turn around and go until you can't move any further. Group B: West, then downstairs. Head onto the bridge to the east, then jump around on the rocks. Go to the stones at the top and hit the switch. Group A: Go up through the passage which opened, then fiddle around and head south to find a switch. Group B: Step on the switch to the north. Group A: North, past the spot where the spikes were, then south. Jump across the stones until you head up some stairs. Hit the switch, then go south as far as it will let you. Group B: West, hit the switch. Group A: South, fight the Red Dragon. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Red Dragon --------------------------------------------------------------------- Vanish/Doom, don't use fire, stick to water and ice attacks. Cyan's Quadra Slam is nice, along with Edgar's Drill/Chainsaw. Group B: South, then west. The lava's gone, get the chest in the centre. Head back to the west, head north until you reach a dead end. Group A: North, step on the switch. Group B: Jump across the platforms, hit the switch. Group A: Follow Group B and stand on the other switch. Any group: Head south, to find Locke!!! Then you'll return to Kohlingen. Kohlingen Here, you'll see a resurrection of someone close to Locke, then recieve the Phoenix Esper plus all the stuff that Locke looted while in the Phoenix Cave. Now fly to Narshe. Narshe Put Locke in your party, and he'll pick open all of the doors. Most important is that you pick the Weapon Shop's door, inside you'll find a man with the Ragnarok. Here, you'll choose whether to get the Esper or the Sword. The Sword is the second most powerful in the game, the Esper turns enemies into items, and teaches Ultima. My recommendation? The sword, as it also grants access to the most powerful sword in the game at the Colosseum. You can learn Ultima from Paladin Shields anyway (equip the Cursed Shield and a Ribbon for 255 battles). --------------------------------------------------------------------- Quest 8:Ancient Castle --------------------------------------------------------------------- Fly to Figaro Castle. Go to the engine room, and tell the guy to take you back to Figaro. You'll get stuck along the way, stop and explore. Head back up, then down the stairs on the right. In the back of the cell to the right is a doorway, enter to get to a cave. Cave to the Ancient Castle Head southeast, search the area for treasure, then head down the stairs, save, and then up the stairs to the Ancient Castle. Ancient Castle Head directly north into the castle, and up to the statue of Odin. Examine it for the Odin Esper. Now go up to the throne on the right, and walk down five steps, press A. A passage will open up, inside, the Blue Dragon. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Blue Dragon --------------------------------------------------------------------- Vanish/Doom, otherwise, Lightning and most powerful magic and physical attacks, like Drill, Meteor, Flare, Chainsaw, Bum Rush etc. In this room is the Raiden statue, examine it to change Odin into Raiden. This is not recommended to do YET, as Odin offers a boost in your speed stats at level up, return here later. Head to each of the other rooms on the ground floor (north, west and east). Grab what you can and return outside. There'll be some more entrances, head to the one on the east. Loot the chest, then go to the door on the west. Inside the chest there will be a monster, beat it for the Offering. Leave. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Quest 9:Cyan's Soul --------------------------------------------------------------------- Fly to Doma Castle. Put Cyan in your party, then enter. In the throne room, the doors to the east and southeast contain chests. To the west of the main room is where you need to go though, rest to enter Cyan's Soul. Cyan's Soul Head west, then enter the northeast door. Enter a door to the east, and you'll meet your third character. You'll see a pair of doors, just head south to get your next member. Now go back up to the left door. Head west into a door. Head south, face the Dream Stooges. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Dream Stooges --------------------------------------------------------------------- Vanish/Doom, or use your most powerful magic attacks (plus Bum Rush, Drill etc.). Use Ice/Water on the top Stooge, Curly. Use Fire on Larry, the left Stooge. Now you're in a train. West to save, then keep going left to another carriage. Pull the switch to the right, then pull the next switch. Head back to the chest, and pick up a Genji Glove. Examine the book, then head west to the next carriage. Pick up the treasure, the pull the switches like so: far right, second from right, far right, third from right. You'll reach the next switch, but before that, set up the chests. Open Open Close Close Close Open Pull the switch now, and head west to the engine room. You'll now appear in some mines. Head south, and follow Cyan around. When you start going in circles, head the other direction and watch Cyan fall. You'll now be in Doma. You can go and fight the boss, or see the three cinemas. The cinemas are in the east room, to the west of the castle, and to the east of the castle. When done, go to the throne room and fight Wrexsoul. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Wrexsoul --------------------------------------------------------------------- Use X-Zone for an easy finish. If not, you'll have to kill off one of your characters, so that you can kill Wrexy. Then revive that person, and go for an all out attack, Ultima, Meteor, Flare, Ice spells, etc. Cyan will wake up, with knowledge of all 8 Swordtechs. Now head back to the throne room, pick up Alexander, and leave. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Quest 10:The Opera House --------------------------------------------------------------------- Head to the Opera House, beforehand equipping everyone with Gaia Gear or Float. Go to the balcony, speak with the man. There's a dragon on the stage! Head northeast to the switches, pull the second switch from the right. You'll fall, and face the dragon. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Dirt Dragon --------------------------------------------------------------------- Vanish/Doom, otherwise use water and wind spells. Drill, Suplex, etc. You know what to do. Leave. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Quest 11:Fanatics' Tower --------------------------------------------------------------------- First, head in with Relm in your party. Strago will join you. Now, go in with Umaro, and your strongest magic users, as you can't use the Fight/Attack command. Plus, have someone learn Life3. This tower is really big, so if you want an easy time heading up, use the Charm Bangle Relic, or have Mog equip the Moogle Charm. Either way, make your way up. In the first screen, there'll be a door. Enter it, and go to the right of the chest and press A. There'll be another door below you when you return outside, inside is an item. Head up to the third floor, in the door there is the White Dragon. --------------------------------------------------------------------- White Dragon --------------------------------------------------------------------- Use your strongest Magic attacks, e.g Ultima and Flare. If not, pound away with magic, or simply Vanish/Doom. Head to the roof, grab the oh-so valuable Gem Box, and then try to leave. You'll confront the MagiMaster. --------------------------------------------------------------------- MagiMaster --------------------------------------------------------------------- This is so annoying!!! Cast Life3 immediately, then pound him with you most powerful spells, Ultima, Flare, and use you best Espers, which should include Bahamut, Maduin, etc. DO NOT use elemental based attacks. A very, very effective way of beating him is to use the Phantom Esper on yourself (or Vanish), then cast Berserk on him. He will only attack, and will probably not hit you, leaving you free to do whatever you feel like to. Using Rasp/Osmose to take away his MP works well too. Now you've got to leave, by going down, down, down...if you're on low life, heal now, or equip the Charm Bangle/Moogle Charm. Good luck. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Quest 12:Ebot's Rock --------------------------------------------------------------------- Fly to Thamasa, and place Strago and Relm in your party. Gungho, Strago's friend is hurt. And the source of his pain has from Hidon, the monster in Ebot's Rock. Fly to it on the map. Ebot's Rock Walk on and the switch is actually a teleporter. North of where you first teleport to, you'll meet a treasure chest who likes eating your coral. But you've got to find the coral. Teleport around and open the chests to pick up coral. Once you've got enough pieces, go to the chest and it will let you through, to beat Hidon. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Hidon --------------------------------------------------------------------- You may want Strago in your party, so that you can learn Hidon's Grand Train Lore, which is very powerful. After that, stick to your best attacks, magic spells (Holy and Cure). Return to Thamasa. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Kefka's Tower --------------------------------------------------------------------- Whoo-hoo! Fly to the tower north of Albrook, and south of Tzen. Descend, and pick three groups. I recommend that Celes, Terra and Relm should not be together, nor Edgar, Sabin or Cyan. My groups ended up like this: A B C Terra Celes Relm Edgar Sabin Cyan Mog Locke Setzer Strago/Gau Gogo Shadow/Umaro But it's your choice. The group letters refer to the side which they landed on, A is the left, C is the right, etc. Group A: Head east, grab the chest and enter the "vent" to the west. Head to the room, which is a dead end. Group B: Into the vent, then head up into the top cell before going down. You'll meet Atma. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Atma --------------------------------------------------------------------- Vanish/Doom, otherwise use Ultima, Flare, Meteor etc. Rasp also works here, as once his MP goes, he's dead. Heal often and stick to powerful magic attacks. Group B: After beating it, it will change into a save point. Head south and exit the prison. Keep moving south until you see two pipes, and enter the one on the left. Now keep going until you reach the next vent, head west from that for a chest. Now enter the vent. Step on the switch, grab the chest, and enter the door to your northeast. Soon you'll come across the Gold Dragon. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Gold Dragon --------------------------------------------------------------------- Vanish/Doom, otherwise, avoid using Lightning at all costs. Ultima, Flare, Meteor, Bahamut, Bum Rush etc. is the way to go. Keep on moving until you reach the room with a switch. Step on it. Group C: Enter the vent near the chest to grab more chests, then come around and enter the other vent. Move on towards the save point, and you'll be attacked. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Inferno/Striker/Rough --------------------------------------------------------------------- Inferno's just so good, he has to name his claws...anyway, aim all attacks on Inferno, the thing in the middle. Lightning is his weakness, and the other two are weak against Fire and Ice, respectively. Ultima, Flare, Meteor and Bahamut work very well. Group C: Move along until you see the glowing thing. Go up to it and trigger it, so that a passage for your other group is opened. Move on to face the Skull Dragon. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Skull Dragon --------------------------------------------------------------------- Vanish/Doom, otherwise, he's vulnerable to Fire and Pearl spells. The big four, Ultima, Meteor, Flare and Bahamut are tops too. Group C: If you've successfully killed all of the seven dragons, you'll recieve the Crusader Esper. Then go forth, until you reach the other side of Group B. Step on the switch and switch to Group A. Group A: Follow the pathway which just opened up, and like the others, you'll arrive in their room. Head onto the balcony. Group B: Move off the switch. Group C: Move off the switch. Group A: Push the weight down, head back inside and stand on the switch. Group B: Repeat Group A's steps, but for the other side (push weight down, head back and step on switch). Group C: Go up through the middle door and step on the switch. Then head back and step on the switch that appeared. Group A: From where you pushed the weight, there should be another door. Head into that, then head north and fight Doom. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Doom --------------------------------------------------------------------- Vanish/Doom, or use non-elemental spells (which are the Big Four). Rumours are you can steal a really cool weapon off him...well, try it. Don't use elemental spells when he has his barriers on. Pearl works well. Group A: Save, enter the vent to the north, and step on the switch. Group B: Follow Group A, and where you pushed the weight down, there'll be a door. Enter, head north and fight Goddess. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Goddess --------------------------------------------------------------------- Vanish/Doom, the big four, and powerful attacks like the Bum Rush, Cyan's techs, etc. Try stealing as well. Group B: Save, enter the door and hit the switch. Group C: Head north and face the Guardian. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Guardian --------------------------------------------------------------------- This time you can actually beat him! He's weak against lightning and water, and the big four plus Bum Rush and Cyan's techs work extremely well. Group C: Save, then go north through the door, then to the southwest. Hidden in the wall is a Ribbon. Then head back north, and fight Poltergeist. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Poltergeist --------------------------------------------------------------------- Big four, Bum Rush and poison elemental spells work fine. He's not too hard, but keep healed. Group C: Now head north, drop down for the hole, and get ready for the final battle!!! Here, you have to pick a number of fighters and place them in order. First, use your four best, then two best, two okay, then last resorts. If any of those characters dies, they'll be replaced with the next person in line. You'll need: A character with Ultima + Gem Box Gogo with Mimic Someone with Bahamut, Ultima, Flare, Meteor, Life3, Haste2 Setzer with Genji Glove + Offering + Fixed Dice or Coin Toss Lots of Time! --------------------------------------------------------------------- Final Fight 1 --------------------------------------------------------------------- Don't hold back. Cast Haste2 on everyone, and good attacks to use are the Big four, Bum Rush, Umaro's throw, and also Cyan's Quadra attacks. Or, adopt a strategy where 3 members cast powerful magic, and the other heals and attacks in a while. If you have Shadow, throw the Shurikens, but not weapons or Tack Stars. Save them. He'll do a final attack, keep above 1100 HP or so. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Final Fight 2 --------------------------------------------------------------------- This time you have four targets. If they cast Haste2, cast Slow2 over and over on them. The enemy at the back is the most dangerous as he casts Life3. Oh. You should'nt bother with casting Life3 on yourselves though. It's easy without it. A good strategy would have been to equip everyone with Fire absorbing armor, then use Merton, Quake, W Wind, etc. These guys deal out heavy Ice and Fire damage. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Final Fight 3 --------------------------------------------------------------------- Cast Regen, so that your HP will still be regenerated. Also cast Life3 now. On everyone. Keep healed (Regen?), as he will dish out lots of damage. The Bum Rush is extremely effective, and if you get Gogo to mimic that, you'll dish out even more damage. Don't forget the Haste2, and it should be over soon. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Kefka: The End --------------------------------------------------------------------- Watch out for Fallen One, right after that, use a Megaelixir. Now, go psycho. If you have Shadow, throw everything. Get Gogo to mimic the person with a Gem Box/Ultima combo for a huge damage combo. Get Sabin to Bum Rush, and Cyan to Quadra Slice. Smack him with Strago's Grand Train, use Mog's dances, give Umaro a Green Cherry for full effect. And if you are daring, very daring, use Merton, Quake and W Wind to full effect, coupled with your Megaelixirs. Should be over soon, good luck! And watch the cool, cool ending. --------------------------------------------------------------------- 4)Esper List --------------------------------------------------------------------- Espers are the basis of the magic system in FF3. It works on most enemies, and most bosses. duncans house. i know its in the middle of the 5 trees, but i cannot find the trees, can you give me a hint of what they are next to? A.It's north of Narshe. Narshe is in the northwest corner of the map. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Q.i just wanted to know where to get the best experince,Magic points and GP, fights are. A.Well, in the World of Balance, the best sources of Magic Points is the Intangir on the Triangle Island. World of Ruin-EXP, outside the Doma Castle, for Magic Points, the Cactuars in the Desert near Miranda (I think). GP, get it anywhere. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Q.Hi again,I'm having a little trouble could you help with the 3 following things ? Where can I find gogo ?, the fake mustache for relm ? and how can I get shadow back.I tried betting but he never comes up to fight do I even get him back before the end of the game ? doesn't he have some type of dream story also ? A.Well, Gogo is on the Triangle Island. You have to get ALL of your party members swallowed up by the monster there (in battle), then make your way through the cave. The FakeMustache? It's inside that cave. Did you wait for Shadow at the end of the WoB? Otherwise he's gone. Otherwise, make sure you bet the Striker. And yes, he has dreams, I think 6-7 of them. Sleep anywhere around the world to view them. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Q.ok i need a little help, for one i can't get Kappa can you give me a little more info on how to, like is Kappa in all CAP letters and other things of the such? second, how in the heck do you get seigfreid and general Leo? could you tell me how? Because i'm at the end of my rope with this thing. Hmmmmmm i know i had more to say. Oh ya i herd a roumor that there are two extra blitzes for sabin that you can get in Kefkas tower, is there? thanx a lot e-mail back with the answers i know you must be busy but please do. Thanx A.Alright, all of these things that you have asked, are basically rumours, from my knowledge. You cannot get Siegfried or Leo as a playable character (however, you do take control of Leo for a short period of time in the game), no more Blitzes, and Kappa is simply somebody who is in Imp form, and has all the Imp equipment. There might be a few GG codes which you can manipulate the game with, but I don't know of them. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Q.Hi Magus, Just a quick question about FF3. What is Shadow's real name? (that guy dressed in brown clothing in his dreams) Is it Clyde? I'm not quite sure. Thanks. A.Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's Clyde =) --------------------------------------------------------------------- Q.hi. i read ur page on the faqs part and like u said the best place to get exp is to fight intangir. well how do u beat him? he heals from alot of magics and like always becomes invisable with the sleep attack. is there any way to beat him or just haf to use magic? thanx for ur time A.When he's invisible, a simple casting of Doom will finish the bugger off. --------------------------------------------------------------------- 11)Bugs --------------------------------------------------------------------- From John Lane III- i think i may have found a bug, in the world of ruin, i have stratgo and mog is not in my party, but stratgo looks like mog. From Spektre: -Hey, um, the Strago being a Moogle thing? It isn't a bug. If Strago has the Moogle Suit equipped, he's gonna look like a Moogle. Just take it off of him. ...That's about all I have to say... -Here's a lot of bugs that people know of, and others that are just plain screwy: 1. The infamous Sketch Bug. Have Relm sketch an invisble enemy, Intangir, and enemies with strange status effects. The screen may scramble, your characters may be switched in funny ways, and you might get Japanese writing characters on your screen. If you reset and load that file (that is, if it wasn't erased from the mishap with Relm), you may have ridiculous amounts of items, like 17,000 Dirks. It happens! 2. Gau Leaping when he's your only party member. Weird! (I've never personally tried it, I'm too scared to :P) From DaMan: -Hello, was reading your FAQ (very nice job, by the way!) and stumbled upon the bugs section. The reason that Stargo looked like Mog was because John Lane III probably had the Moggle Suit on Stargo, and whenever you have that on a character, they look like a Moggle. From AzNGaMer: You dont know me but i just read thru your Final Fantasy 3 Faq from GameFaqs.com, I just want to tell you little note on the "trade off" from the Colosseum for Dark Hood is Elixir and when you try Leap with only Gau on the team, they won't let you, it will say "Can't Dive". Also, another known bug is when Relm tried to sketch the 3 Dream Stooges. --------------------------------------------------------------------- From Mary: -Don't forget about the sketching Gau bug in the WOB. I've never tried it in the WOR, so I can only comment on the WOB. It was just you're regular screen and all the characters and things getting messed up, and then reseting. Then I had obscene amounts of pretty much verything in my invintory. The only down side is that I lost Edgar's chainsaw. I've only done this once, so I don't know if that's always a side effect. Thanks! :) ~Mary --------------------------------------------------------------------- 12)Tips --------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------- 13)Acknowledgements --------------------------------------------------------------------- Squaresoft- For making this, probably the BEST Final Fantasy ever. Ken-Hello again! This time pronounce the names right, Bo-nan! Mynock-For making a very comprehensive guide which helped me through the game at first. I'm trying to make mine better.
